Several web sites are of interest to fans of Lancastrian pottery.
Requesting a search under "Royal Lancastrian" usually results in several AUCTION sites being listed - though we find they are often out of date.
Sites of a more informative nature are:-
1. Peter Scott Gallery at Lancaster University - - See the John Chambers Room page. John Chamber's Room via the links pages http://www.lancs.ac.uk/users/peterscott/ceramics.htm
2. Aberystwyth offers an interesting ceramics web site which whilst
it does not specifically detail Pilkington's is worth visiting on
http://www.aber.ac.uk/~mov/index.html
3. For general information on antiques members may wish to try Antiques
World which includes a directory of collectors clubs including Pilkington's
Lancastrian Pottery Society. (http://www.antiquesworld.co.uk/)
4. Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums has an interesting general ceramic site which members may wish to visit. Click here.
5. The Gladstone Pottery Museum is an excellent general site with information on ceramics and cermic history and well worth a surf. Click here.
6. TILES - TILES TILES - The website of TACS - the Tiles and Architectural Ceramics Society is excellent.
7. Salford is the local focus for Swinton events. Salford maintains
2 sites of interest to members. The first links to Salford Museum
and Art Gallery and is of interest because it provides opening times etc
and a local map. (Also useful because it links to a general UK tourist
service.) This is at http://www.aboutbritain.com/SalfordMuseum.htm
Salford's local history project is called the LifeTimes project aand
is concerned with capturing local histories from local people.
This can be found at http://www.lifetimes.org.uk/salford.htm
8.. For more information about pottery there is a website trying to link all pottery related sites together. Clicking on the Pottery Lovers Ring takes you to their sites - remember to bookmark this site.
